The Hayward Gallery wanted to give visitors a greater understanding of the working methods of Artist Dan Flavin so we created an installation that allowed visitors to create an artwork of their own, based his methods and materials.

Dan Flavin's artworks are all created using commercially available fluorescent light fittings in standard sizes and colours. Each artwork is then dedicated to a person or personal reflection. We developed a touchscreen interface that allowed users to choose and position individual tubes on a virtual wall and then name the resulting artwork by dedicating it to a friend or relative. Every users's artwork was projected life size onto the gallery wall and also sent by email to their dedicated person.
