We created a dual language (English and Arabic) interactive resource for a division of the Abu Dhabi Government to help them foster a greater understanding of environmental issues.

The client had already created a printed book called “The Environmental Atlas of Abu Dhabi Emirate". The Ambition was for the interactive version to be an effective educational tool in teaching students new skills and create a step forward in changing the traditional education system to encourage creative thinking.

To help facilitate this, we peppered the narrative structure with complementary stories, case studies, facts and statistics, illustrative figures, anecdotes, photographs, thematic maps and interactive modules. Users can also explore a wide range of interactive maps which integrate with the google maps API.

While the whole experience is educational, we created specific content for teachers, with classroom activities such as lesson plans, teacher briefings, classroom photo quizzes and classroom posters. For students there are online tutorials with learning modules, video clips and online quizzes.

Central to the brief was that users of the interactive version should feel a clear sense of connection to the book, so we developed a sympathetic design language to ensure consistency across print and digital media
